A couple of not-so-busy days.

I know I haven't posted in a while but that's because I haven't had much to say! Once we recuperate and get back into the touristy swing of things, I'll have more pictures and stories.

Sunday was a very low-key day after a very busy week of running around London, so I don't have much to write about that. I basically woke up, took a nap, and cooked dinner with Josh. Monday morning I experienced one of what I am told will be many fire alarms set off by such trivial things as hair straighteners. I also had my first Human Nutrition class on Monday, which actually lasted the full three hours (none of my other classes had so this was a little unexpected). One of the lecturers this week was this cold woman who kept talking about fat Americans. I was also silly enough to come to that class barely having eaten lunch, so hearing about nutrition for the next three hours was slightly miserable. I didn't even make it home before I stopped to get a delicious samosa on my way back from that class.

On Tuesday I went grocery shopping in the morning, and had class in the afternoon. I then rushed straight from class to a student bar at the Strand campus called The Waterfront. It has a gorgeous view of, well, the waterfront. But of course, no one was there for that! It was packed (they stopped letting people in) and a very fun atmosphere in which to watch the inauguration. Wolfson House (where I live) also had a viewing with food and such in the common room. It's nice how much people care here! Then, we (Josh, Brittany, Sam, Mark, and I) went to pizza hut. Why in the world would we go to pizza hut, you ask? Well, pizza hut here is not the pizza hut back home. It's FANCY! So fancy, that I even took pictures. At a pizza hut. I know that's not really saying much because I'll take pictures anywhere, but here's the proof.

After that, we ended up at Leicester Square again before heading home.

Wednesday was fantastic because I had my first Cold Spring Harbor Lab reunion! And who would've thought that it would be in London! Richie came to London from Scotland for a few days. We went out for lunch, and he pointed out that a BBC newscaster was sitting two tables away from us! It was really great seeing a fellow URP, and made me miss everyone from the summer even more. I took this picture right before saying goodbye and getting off the train, so it's a little crappy, but it'll do.

Richie also pointed out that the station that I was getting off at was once used as a bomb shelter, and still resembles one in some ways. It really did look pretty different from other Tube stations, so I took a few pictures. And here's something a little random that I just remembered: one of the first days that I was here, I saw an advertisement in a Tube stop that said "Why deal with the UK rain when you can got to UKraine?" I'm still regretting not taking a picture of it. Maybe I'll find it again some day.

After sayign goodbye to my fellow URP, I met Brittany for some shopping! Everyone who has walked down any street in London with me knows that I am looking for a bag. But, unfortunately, I still haven't found one despite the fact that they are sold on every corner.

After that, Brittany, Josh and I cooked dinner -- chicken parmesan, bow tie pasta, and Brittany's delicious green beans. We finished off the meal with some tea and milk chocolate biscuits. Sadly for Brittany, we ate the whole roll of biscuits. But I guess you can't expect anything less when you put milk chocolate biscuits and tea in front of us.

It's 1:17 am here and tomorrow I have to be at Sam's dorm at 7:45 am to watch the season premier of LOST. Yep, at 7:45 am. Josh, Sam, and Mark decided that they would be unable to keep their sanity if they had to wait until we were all done with classes tomorrow (around 5 pm) to watch the season premier. Personally, I think I would have kept my sanity just fine. But that's why they accuse me of being a bad LOST viewer.

P.S. Leave some comments please! I have no idea if anyone is actually reading this : ). And I want to know how everything is going back at Wash U. Thanks!

I am checking your blog every day. Please keep writing! I am confused, though, how the post dated 'Monday, January 19' appeared only today Thur 22nd, while yesterday the latest one was 18th. But maybe it's just me - age, need glasses...
