(Most of this was written yesterday, so by 'today' I mean 'yesterday')
Again, my class didn't start until 2pm this morning. So, this time, Sam and I went to the store to get cooking supplies! I bought a pot and a pan, and various ingredients for rice and pasta and sandwiches. I was too overwhelmed when I got to the meat section so I decided to deal with cooking meat another time -- maybe once I make a successful bowl of pasta. A few days ago, at afternoon tea, we had these sandwiches with cucumber and cream cheese (I know, it sounds like a weird combination, but they were good!). So that's what I made for lunch today! Then, it was time for class!
Today I had a class called "Biology of Ageing" (yep, spelled with an 'e'). I was surprised and a little creeped out by how much the lecture and the lecture room reminded me of LabSci 300 -- a big powerpoint screen, moving boards, 200 people in the class, and of course, a microphone that didn't work, as often happens at Wash U! While I'm on that topic -- two more things here remind of Wash U. The pigeons here are like the squirrels there -- not at all afraid of people. And you can see 4-5 cranes in the city no matter what direction you turn. Anyways, the professor seems really great and I'm looking forward to this class a lot. It was a little shorter today but I think it'll usually last 2.5 hours. The biology classes here don't use textbooks since they are often not up-to-date, which is great! Instead, they just use published articles.
I haven't done much between class and now, although I did take a much-needed nap. I planned on making dinner after that but went to a bar we have on campus with some people from my floor instead. So i guess I'm having cereal for dinner tonight.
